An exotic island that attracted sailors, traders and merchants from around the world for centuries
An exotic island that attracted sailors, traders and merchants from around the world for centuries as a trade capital in spices, gold, ivory and slaves and once the home of the sultans of Oman. The allure of the spice island still resonates today, Zanzibar is a place of white sand beaches and turquoise water, an island dotted with crumbling ancient ruins steeped in history and an island where centuries old architecture can still be seen in the labyrinth of streets that make up Stone Town.
Zanzibar offers a relaxing beach vacation after a gruelling Kilimanjaro trek or an ideal way to end a safari holiday. Many activities await the visitor, from a myriad of water sports, to exploring Jozani forest, to taking a guided tour of Stone Town or a nearby fishing village. All are great ways to learn more about the Swahili Coast and its people.

They make a difference:
Five of us did a safari tour with Hazina Afrika They are really the people who makes our 8 days trip so unforgettable and meaningful.
Firstly, one of us was emailing Rama since March for our trip in end September. He is nothing but patient & helpful. Quick and spot on email replies, and everything was so clear and organised. We changed our itinerary from 10 days to 8 days, and from 2 pax to 5 pax and he answered and altered everything so precisely & accurately. About 10 days before our trip, he sent us everything we need to know to help us prepare for the big trip, all the reminders & tips were spot on and super helpful.
Upon our arrival in Kilimanjaro, we were brought to our hotel and Rama was waiting at the hotel to set us all up for our departure to Serengeti the next day. Everything that we need was there, he even helped us activate all 5 sim cards that we’ve pre-ordered, making sure its all working.
When we arrive at Kogatende Airstrip in Serengeti, a tall and skinny guide was waiting for us with a big smile, picnic table all setup with coffee, tea & some snacks waiting. He introduced himself as Msami…took us about 30mins to suss each other out in almost every aspect. We mentioned Rama’s name, and Msami’s reply was “Who is Rama? I think you girls got the wrong guy”. That totally breaks the ice and kickstart our awesome safari adventure.
Msami was very intelligent, super knowledgable about almost everything in the safari and about the animals. We all agreed it will not be as enjoyable if we weren’t given so much more information whenever we spotted something or some animals behaviour.
Lodging was superb, a good mix of camps & lodges; moderate & luxury. Tasaa Luxury Camp, Kati-Kati Camp & Lemala Ngorongoro Camp gave us all the experience we are looking for in the safari. The most talk-about has to be the “talking shower”.
We ended our trip with Msami driving us from Lake Manyala to the Kilimanjaro Airport for us to catch our flight. On our way to the airport, we stopped by to meet Rama again and he bid us farewell with his usual big smile. At the airport, Msami send us off with a big hug and we shared one more of our many dark jokes. We left Tanzania planning another trip in 2 years’ time and we know we will go back with Hazina and of course it has to be the combo of Rama & Msami.
To us, the trip that Rama put together for us was perfect; as a first trip to a safari. We now know what we will be looking for in our next or more upcoming safari trips. Having said that, please do watch out for one thing — SAFARI EXCURSION IS ADDICTIVE. So be prepared to put aside money for this excitement.
