Tanzania Safari – Enjoy 12-Day Private Deluxe Tanzania Safari & Zanzibar. This itinerary focus on tracking the great Wildebeest migration and the BIG FIVE during the green season, monthly spanning from Dec to May.

Itinerary detail
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport a Hazina Afrika visa specialist will greet you in the Arrivals area and assist you with obtaining your tourist visa (tourist visa fee is included), help collect your luggage and accompany you through customs and escort you to a Hazina transfer representative who will be waiting outside the secured area to warmly welcome you to Tanzania. The road transfer to your hotel in Arusha will be approximately one hour. After check-in, your transfer rep will brief you on the following day’s schedule, review a safari safety checklist and answer any questions you may have. Dinner and overnight at Arusha 4 Point Hotel in a Deluxe Room.

Day 2 to 3: Central Serengeti
After an early morning breakfast, a Hazina representative will transfer you to the Arusha Domestic Airport to catch Auric Air 8am flight to the Central Serengeti. Your flight path will take you over the Ngorongoro Crater, the southern Serengeti plains to the Central Serengeti so enjoy the fabulous views below. Your driver guide will be waiting at the Seronera airstrip to welcome to you to the Serengeti to begin your safari adventure. Spend the next two days game driving the Central Serengeti and the Seronera Valley. The Seronera River Valley is home to a great diversity of wildlife due to its unique ecological niche as a transitional zone where two distinctly different habitats, the plains and woodlands, merge and various species of wildlife from both habitats can coexist. Seronera is headquarters for many of the Serengeti wildlife research projects, including the Serengeti Lion Project and the Frankfurt Zoological Society. Two nights at the lovely Pumzika Serengeti Camp.

Day 4 to 6: Ndutu, Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This morning depart from Serengeti National Park and head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Spend the next three days exploring this vast area of the Ndutu woodlands and surrounding plains. During the green season spanning from December to April, the majority of the Great Migration should be located in this area. The Great Migration is comprised not only of the wildebeest, zebra, eland and Thompson gazelle herds, totalling upwards of 2.5 million animals altogether but the migration is also accompanied by the predators including lions, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals. Three nights at Ang’ata Migration Camp.

Day 7: Olduvai &Ngorongoro Highlands
Finish game driving Ndutu this morning and begin heading southeast towards Ngorongoro Highlands. Visit Olduvai Museum en route. Olduvai is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world. Known as “The Cradle of Mankind”, the gorge stretches for nearly 50 km from Lake Ndutu to the Olbalbal Depression. The Leakey’s are the archaeologists responsible for most of the excavations and discoveries in Olduvai Gorge. They unearthed about 60 different hominid remains dating back from 2 million years ago to 17,000 years ago. The remains of about 7,000 extinct animal species have also been unearthed and moulds of some of these artifacts can be seen in the small on-site museum. Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge perched on the rim of the Crater with fabulous views.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater & Karatu
Today, begin your day early with 6am game drive into the Ngorongoro Crater floor to escape the crowds that can gather later in the morning with the packaged group tours. The Crater is your best opportunity to see the highly endangered black rhino so spend some time scanning the horizon with your binoculars and to try spot one. Enjoy a picnic breakfast watching an African sunrise and spend the rest of the day exploring the world famous Ngorongoro Crater often referred to as “Africa’s Garden of Eden”. Encompassing an area of only 265 sq/km, the dense concentration of wildlife in a confined area allow for incredible game viewing and photo opportunities. Depart from the Crater in the afternoon and head to the nearby town of Karatu for overnight atEndoro Lodge in Karatu.

Day 9 to 11: Lake Manyara National Park & Fly to Zanzibar
After breakfast at Endoro Lodge head to Lake Manyara National Park approximately 30 minutes away and spend the morning game driving through the lush groundwater forest. Lake Manyara is famous for its tree climbing lions although the likelihood of seeing lions in a tree is greater in the Serengeti than at Manyara due to the dense forest making visibility difficult. Birdlife is abundant as are the number of baboons and other primates. Mid-morning head to Manyara Airstrip to catch Auric Air 11:55am flight to Zanzibar (with a quick stop at Arusha Domestic Airport). Arrive in Zanzibar at approximately 14:25. A transfer rep will be waiting for you at Zanzibar Domestic Airport to transfer you to the lovely Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel located on the white sand beaches of northern Zanzibar. Three nights at the beautiful Ras Nungwi in a Deluxe Chalet on half board basis.

Day 12: Depart from Zanzibar & Fly to Dar Es Salaam to catch the return flight
After lunch a transfer rep will pick you up from Ras Nungwi to transfer you to Zanzibar Airport to catch your Auric Air 14:50 flight from Zanzibar to Dar Es Salaam, arrive in DAR at 15:10 Transfer to Hotel Slipway for a day room (no meals included at Slipway). They make a difference:

Five of us did a safari tour with Hazina Afrika They are really the people who makes our 8 days trip so unforgettable and meaningful.

Firstly, one of us was emailing Rama since March for our trip in end September. He is nothing but patient & helpful. Quick and spot on email replies, and everything was so clear and organised. We changed our itinerary from 10 days to 8 days, and from 2 pax to 5 pax and he answered and altered everything so precisely & accurately. About 10 days before our trip, he sent us everything we need to know to help us prepare for the big trip, all the reminders & tips were spot on and super helpful.

Upon our arrival in Kilimanjaro, we were brought to our hotel and Rama was waiting at the hotel to set us all up for our departure to Serengeti the next day. Everything that we need was there, he even helped us activate all 5 sim cards that we’ve pre-ordered, making sure its all working.

When we arrive at Kogatende Airstrip in Serengeti, a tall and skinny guide was waiting for us with a big smile, picnic table all setup with coffee, tea & some snacks waiting. He introduced himself as Msami…took us about 30mins to suss each other out in almost every aspect. We mentioned Rama’s name, and Msami’s reply was “Who is Rama? I think you girls got the wrong guy”. That totally breaks the ice and kickstart our awesome safari adventure.

Msami was very intelligent, super knowledgable about almost everything in the safari and about the animals. We all agreed it will not be as enjoyable if we weren’t given so much more information whenever we spotted something or some animals behaviour.

Lodging was superb, a good mix of camps & lodges; moderate & luxury. Tasaa Luxury Camp, Kati-Kati Camp & Lemala Ngorongoro Camp gave us all the experience we are looking for in the safari. The most talk-about has to be the “talking shower”.

We ended our trip with Msami driving us from Lake Manyala to the Kilimanjaro Airport for us to catch our flight. On our way to the airport, we stopped by to meet Rama again and he bid us farewell with his usual big smile. At the airport, Msami send us off with a big hug and we shared one more of our many dark jokes. We left Tanzania planning another trip in 2 years’ time and we know we will go back with Hazina and of course it has to be the combo of Rama & Msami.

To us, the trip that Rama put together for us was perfect; as a first trip to a safari. We now know what we will be looking for in our next or more upcoming safari trips. Having said that, please do watch out for one thing — SAFARI EXCURSION IS ADDICTIVE. So be prepared to put aside money for this excitement.
